Happy New Year!

Good friends from North East River Yacht Club hosted an annual Huevos Rancheros breakfast this morning, at their home.  For me, this breakfast starts the new year off just right - in the company of friends, with a belly full of comfort food.  The sky was mostly clear and the sun shone brightly all day, warming our home as Dobbs and I napped the afternoon away.  In the late afternoon, we mustered our courage to take Murphy for a walk on the beach despite temperatures in the teens and a biting breeze.

I just can't believe this cold.  The ice is so thick we haven't had a tide in days.  Down the river, we can see ice piled up where the tide IS happening, but it's starkly still on Red Point Beach.

The sun, low in the sky and reflecting off the textured ice in pink, orange, and yellow, was striking.

Tonight, I'm grateful for the lasting friendships we made at North East River Yacht Club.
